Where did this week go?

I'm not sure about anyone else, but I feel like this week went by really quickly and honestly don't remember much of it.  I guess it's been pretty busy at work and juggling two classes while working full-time has started to catch up with me.  In two months we'll welcome a group of new graduate students and career advisors which is always an exciting but busy time.  I've been in my job for 12 years now so I am no stranger to the seasons but this summer feels so different -- the post pandemic shade is real.  I am also in the change management course this summer with Dr. Brooks and that class is so timely for what I have been experiencing in my personal and professional life as we transition to the "new beginning"...the...return to campus.  So many mixed emotions among our staff and the students.  After a year of remote life, I find myself laughing that here I am in a Web 2.0 class soaking up more digital time.  I am starting to think about ways that I can integrate what I'm learning in this class for our upcoming career advisor training.  This week's topic of networked knowledge activities is just as timely as I consider how to take all of these tools and design learning interactions with them.  Maybe next week I'll blog about some ideas that I come up with and get feedback from you all.

I'll admit that this past week I have been less active online but that's because my schedule is just so busy and I do need to give my eyes and brain a break.  I thought about doing the digital detox challenge (mostly because I am driven by badges) but it slipped my mind and now it's Sunday so whoops.  I did generally spend less time online during the weeknights and engaged in more face to face connections.  We saw some friends for dinner (one of which was highlighted in a classmate's blog about her BabyTok Project so we chatted about that!!), I went into work in person a few times even though I didn't need to, and hung out with a coworker after work because she is moving permanently to MSP.  Perhaps it felt like a good time to reconnect with people in my network in a 3D mode this week.  Maybe I'll do a short digital detox this evening after I finish my homework for the week :)

  1. I completely feel you Emily! I have had some weeks where work is simply crazy and I have not mental capacity to do anything else. I guess the most important is to take it little by little. It seems your work experiences are connected to your classes which can allow you to put things into practice and see how much is applicable in real life.

Hello!  I guess this is my final blog post for EME6414 😥.  It's been fun but I don't plan to continue blogging after this class.  I...
